After getting educated in the Spridget pages (thanks, folks), I am posting an engine I recently acquired. The BIG LIE was that it was rebuilt...not. I traded for it, thinking it was a 1275...not.

Here's the reality: It was complete with ribcase trans, all accessories except carbs (which I think I can get). Dirty, but stored indoors. It turned over. I pulled the head- it is a 12G295. Eng. # is 10CC D H 51383. It's got some miles on it, but the valves look decent-some carbon, but no burned ones. Cylinder walls are smooth- no sieze marks. Slight ridge. Standard pistons. Looks like a perfect engine to bore and build...just not something I need.

I have no idea of value. I could sell it with or without trans,( assume this ribcase will serve as another spare for my 1275), perhaps swap for CB MGB stuff, or maybe good parts (especially a top) for a '70 Midget, or, I dunno... guns or gold??

Do you have compression figures / oil pressure readings by chance?

Thanks.

According to the guy I got it from, it was rebuilt...no way! I don't know how he got it-I think he was gonna use it in one of his old Austins. I would guess it has over 50K miles on it, probably "ran when parked". One might get away with honing cylinders and doing a ring/valve job... I didn't pull the pan, but I could, and have a look at the bearings. I just figured someone could use it as a good core... very buildable.
