I have been haunted by Lucas, Prince of Darkness in preparing my wifes 76 MG Midget for state inspection. I was literally on my way to the inspection station when I got a lapful of smoke. It looks like one of the White wires shorted itself on a dash bracket, I have not traced which one yet, but it worked its way under the hood and teh white wire leading to the coil is also bubbly, so I am thinking the inside of the loom is also a mess. So, my question is, which part of the loom is this? Moss lists a main loom and a dash loom, but no pictures/descriptions. Where is the seperation point for the looms in the federal US 1500 MG?

Time to go back to race cars so I have to deal with less of this &*$%&&*

I PMd you with a poor diagram but it spells it out better. I don't think you can make the call or assumption without looking more carefully for the damage.

It maybe as simple as making a good splice of the damaged wiring. By good I suggest soldering and covering with shrink wrap.

Greg

I followed up Kirk's with a colored diagram as well to help you.

ok, so I am guessing the otherwise unmarked long rectangular boxes are the interconnects between the wiring loom sections. I can see what I need now. Thanks.
