Found a set of 15" wheels for sale local to me that have a backspace of 5 1/8" and the guy thinks it is a 40mm offset based on the backspace, but they are 7 inches wide, is this too wide for the B without flaring the fenders?
Like to keep you guys thinking :)
15" x 7 Is this too wide on a RB B?

too wide, you need that set of flares sitting in my basement! :D
the appropriate tire for that rim would also be far too much for the B.
Wasn't sure if a low profile tire would work. And Tim, I would like to flare mine out when I get around to a new paint job.
I saw on Hap's site that there were Superlites with 15 x 7, are those used with the flares?
I think offset is your biggest enemy with those rims. Are the rims actually marked 7"? If not, how are you measuring the width? 7" overall or to the inside, where the tire seats? If it's a true (inside measure) 7" rim, the narrowest tire that's recommended is a 195/60x15". That's what I and others have used without rubbing, IF the offset is correct. It's never the rim that rubs the fenders, it's the tire, although tie rod interference might or might not be a problem, even with 15" vs 14". You could make these rims work if you want to get involved with spacers. These would change your offset to around 15mm.

The guy said they are stamped inside the rim with 7J x 15CH, so I assume they are in fact a 7 inch. I will double check with him to make sure, they had such a nice look too. I would have driven the car over and test fit them since they come with tires too but my B is still waiting for the new carb jet from Joe.
No need to measure. I didn't know if they were marked and some people don't know to measure them correctly. Anyway, I think everything else I said still holds true. What size tires do they come with?
The 15 x 7" on my site are GTR race wheels and indeed are for SCCA race cars with fender flares.
Tim, tell about those flares, how are they coming along?
[tail between legs] they've been wet sanded and smoothed out. One has a chip that I'll fill with gel coat and smooth out. I plan to spray 2-3 good coats of tooling gel coat on them next week (after my open house on Sunday - stinks up the house). [/tail between legs]

Oh you're not going to get any grief from me as for work time and getting everything needed to be done, done, trust me, I feel your pain. :)
