So, looking at my 18V rods that are going into an earlier engine, I notice that the part # casting and MOWOG is cast onto one side of the beam on three of them, and the other side on the 4th. At first I was concerned the machinist had mounted a piston backwards, but if you only pay attention to the oil spurt holes for orientation, they are all the same. The rods themselves have a boss for drilling said spurt hole on both sides of the rod.
On comparing a GB block's front main cap with that of a GH or GJ, there are differences in the casting on those. They are interchangeable, but not the same.
Just something for those of you who are interested in trivial details.

Main bearing caps are NEVER interchangeable without line boring the engine, and on MG that means the sump face is no longer flat.

Unlike the 18GA rods, there is no offset on the later rods and it doesn't matter which way they face if you aren't worried about the oil hole.
I use those rods on my Twincam race engine and don't need to worry about orientation as the Twincam never used the oil spray - the bearings don't have holes to allow them to spray!
I like the later horizontal split rods better than the early diagonal split - stronger!
They have the same MOWOG part number cast into them is my meaning, and are alike in all matters of importance.

I figured you know that, but it is not a good thing to have those who don't believing and repeating it!
