MG MGB and MGB GT Tech Talk
I have access to almost as many used 195/60 14 tires as I want, ideally I understand the best size is 185/70 14 but these are rare on the cars we work on as they are usually less than 3 years old.
How do 195/60 work on a B? Has anyone used this size tire?
I'd say mount up a set and try 'em. They're not that far off, they'll probably work fine. I'd be a little concerned if they were going on wire wheels, though, but I've had people tell me that 185-70's were too wide for wires and I've been running them for years.
Good question. I have run 195/55/14 on my Accord (race tires) without a problem. I am going to remount them on my spare LE rims to race my MG with. I was wondering if there would be a rubbing problem. There is a couple inches of offset difference between the Accord and MG rims (~2") with the MG further to the outside (good). I don't suspect a problem (hope..hope).
Can't wait to try them out autocrossing. The street tires just don't cut it anymore

The DPO had 205/70/14's on my 77 and I drove them for 3 moths and never had any problems at all.
I have 195/60 15s on my B with knock off minilites. If I hit a huge bump then I might get a rub, other than that, no problems.
They'll work fine if the suspension is in good shape. If not, particularly at the rear, you might get some rubbing. Bs are funny... you may have to roll the fender lip, even with the suspension in good shape. But more or less, you should be fine. Speedo should even be pretty accurate.
I've been running 195/60s on my 79 with rostyles, for a couple of years without any problems. I think the 185/65s on my 71 bgt with rostyles look better.
