MG MGB and MGB GT Tech Talk
When I ripped my 1967 Mk1 MGB GT apart, I discovered the floors - both sides - were covered with rubber mats. These, of course, had adhered to the metal floor due, probably, to the heat below.
My question: Is it possible that this model did not use carpeting on the floors, just the rubber mats?

You got it, check Moss out (page 101) and you can buy new sills if you want. The 1967 floor mats can be bought from someone in Australia from what I have read.
You can still use carpet if you want unless you are going for originality. I'm putting carpet in mine, I like the more plush look and feel of it.
I have a set of Bruce's rubber floor mats and I'm very happy with them - exact same look, pattern, and dimensions as original, but made of different, more durable material.
How interesting. I'm not sure what this indicates, but 3 out of the 4 people responding to this query own a Mk1 MGB, and an MGA!
It's the perfect combination - an MGA for sheer beauty, and a Mk1 BGT for a good combination of style and practicality.
