MGB: 1969 Steering Cowl

I need to find a steering cowl for my '69 MGB roadster, but am having trouble locating one. It appears that Moss and Victoria British either show them as not available, or don't attach a part number to the item in their part displays. Can anyone out there help me find one of these elusive parts?

Check this out, Kathleen: http://tinyurl.com/558u7v

The seller is a regular here, and has a good reputation. I've bought from him before, and can vouch for him - as can a lot of other folks here.

Welcome aboard, by the way.

I may have one of those kicking around the garage. I put in a late-model dash in my '69 and used the late cowl with the light switch in it. I'll take a look tomorrow and if I find it, I'll post a picture.

Is the only difference between a '69 cowl and a 72-76 cowl the dash light switch on the left side?

Yeah, that's chuck up in Aiken.

Do you have either half? I have a box of mismatched stuff , if you have half I may be able to match it.

If you get that for anywhere near the current price you will be fortunate. I used an automatic watch on eBay for months before I found one that didn't have broken nodes, and I believe it was a bargain at $75. The nodes that hold the threaded bushings break pretty easily if overtightened after the plastic ages.

I saw one that was in excellent shape go for almost $200.

$200, eh? Guess I'd better find that one I think I have and hope it's in good condition!

I finally picked one up (from Vancouver no less, Simon!) in a package deal with a new (used) dash for $100 US total. Sure enough, like Frank noted, it had a broken node but will be hidden inside, out of notice, once I fix it that is.

Need to be persistant Kathleen - good luck!

Simon, I hope you can find that cowl. If you do, let me know and we can work out the $$ details. I would be totally appreciative!
