What do you guys think of this GT:

I noticed it is missing the air filters... looks like it could use a repaint. What would you say it is worth? My son is looking for a GT.

I paid $5,000 CDN for my '71 GT but I think that's a bit of a deal given its current condition.
Personally I think that GT looks a little sad and was probably ignored by the current owner (but that's just my opinion). Like you said it doesn't have any air filters. It's also missing the vertical bumper pieces on the front bumper, missing the rear MG badge, has cracks on the dash, and a weird dent type thing on the hood.
I'm also not a big fan of the photos. The car was parked in the partial shade of a tree so it makes it even harder to see any flaws. Better to go look at it in person...IMHO..
;)
You need a definition of "very little rust".
Looks like a $2500 GT to me.
I was looking at this one also. And I too was not pleased with the shaddy photos. Also it looks a little crooked in the front and I don't see an exhust pipe..the very little rust can be a uneducated opinion...
Gary
Probably get 2500 here in the Northeast USA,
Cant tell if it is silver or grey from the pics...ad says blue though..
regardless.. it looks like a car that should be inspected in person..could be a good 2500 car..or a 500 parts car if the car is junk underneath.
But sure could use some bodywork..what is the paint hiding I wonder. Hood looks like junk.. expensive part to replace.
Overall looks decent...from the somewhat crappy pics..at least.
What concerns me is the lack of air filters. Was it run that way? What is the compression readings now?
I am a big fan of beater GTs for daily drivers (me and Paul S :) ) but this one needs a first hand inspection by someone here.
Anyone read about the daily driver GT in VT that was in Hemmings this month? The owner is a nice guy.
My GT was 50 times worse than that one, but I only paid $350 for it. However, I'd say you could find a better one, perhaps a California or Arizona car with no rust.
My GT was 50 times worse than that one, but I only paid $350 for it. However, I'd say you could find a better one. Also depends on how much time and money you have to spend on it. You might find some nasty stuff lurking under the paint, like layers of bondo or rust like I did.
Hi Everyone! I'm new to the whole world of MG's, restorations, etc..and am going to look at this one on Saturday! I think it MIGHT be a challenging starter project!
newbie here! going to look at this car this weekend while visiting my hometown. might be an interesting "starter" project -- or a dud!
went down and checked this out. good interior, good handling. shifted nice, good pick up. no brakes. seats aren't on a track or bolted in. all the seals are bad. windshield is spiderweb. monstrous NEW paint job. looks like they just painted it without any kind of repair or prep. all kinds of ominous dips and lumps and uneven patches. minimal rust underneath. didn't buy - the price he quoted me over the phone had increased by $1600 when I arrived! the search continues!
