Or guess which car is in a garage and which was driven tonight. Waterpump went out on bimmer after 88000 miles. Manual choke on 71 bgt gets its 4 banger cranking in no time. Here in the Appalachian boondocks MGB parts are easier and faster to get than BMW parts. Plus, I can work on the b, with the help of the guys on this bbs. 71 bgt is running fine. 92 bmw is in garage until next week waiting for a waterpump. I think I will wash and wax my b tomorrow. After I drive it to work.

Sam, I'm with you!
I sold my BMWs (a 525IX and a 535 IS) and instead bought a 1977 MG Midget & a 1969 MGB. The MGs are way more fun, you can get lots of people to work on them, you can work on them yourself, you can get technical information and women & children love MGs.
The BMWs were very expensive to maintain and not very durable.
The MGs always put a smile on my face - there is a certain "Je ne sais quoi" with the link to the historic "romace of motoring".
As far as reliability - my rubber bumper Midget is very reliable & a true joy to drive - twin SUs, headers, oversized exhaust etc. My MGB project is under development - on road planned for spring 00 or 01.
The key with the MGs is to rebuild before you drive. Safety fast!
Bob
Now, I wonder which one you're going to trust when you come to VA in 11 days. Might not be a choice if the water pump doesn't arrive in time. Thank goodness for MGs.
Damn them, it must be a plague with BMW's. I won't get into it. I recall another post I made about them on down message chain. Sorry brother.
All I have to add is that I drove my Jeep to work, came home early, jumped behind the wheel of the bgt and , BZZZZ. Drove to Virginia and loved every second of it. These cars are so fun to drive it's no wonder we have websites for them.
Have to agree 100%. I can't afford a BMW, to buy or to fix. I have a 74 Thing that is new from ground on up except paint, and I am planning to sell it to get the B on the road. I bought the Thing for the space (lotsa room, 4dr, convertible, and cheap to fix) but I love the B!
Don't sell your Thing too cheap, they're a hot item now a days. Find a web site for them and see what they're worth before you run any ads.
On eBay, they go for any amount between $3500 and $7000, depending on condition.
Look on a Thing site anyway. You'll find people who really want one there. Dont put all your bets on one table.
