Hey there,

I'm looking to replace the leaf springs on my MGB GT. The springs on the car when I bought it were not original and, I'm told, one isn't even the correct spring for the car. Replacing them both with the correct springs seems like the best idea. I have read that there are good and bad options. I'm hoping to keep the costs down but I also don't want a terrible ride. Any recommendations on vendor? I'm in the Seattle area and I'm dreading the shipping as well. Any recommendations would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Order from Bob at Brit-tek

PS...welcome to the forum. Don't hesitate to ask questions. Everyone is here to help.
Bob sells complete rear end kits. This is what you should buy as you'll probably need to replace all rubber bushings.

I would talk to Autosport Parts (on Westlake by Denny Park). He supplied me with almost all the parts I needed for my 75 including lowered front and rear springs, engine rebuild parts, machine work, new convertable top, etc. They are very knowledgeable and he also has an excellent machine shop as part of the store.

I bought a set Moss springs from Chris Roop for my roadster. They found a new source for their springs and are of good quality and fit. Pick up a set of poly shackle and spring mount bushings. The rubber ones do not last. I did not replace the front spring bushing. They rarely give problems and it is a bear of a job to replace them. Welcome to the forum. Get a hold of Chris. He is a good guy to deal with.

Wren-

Welcome to the site. Others have given you good information about the springs. I'd like to invite you to join the local MG club. The website is www.MGCCNWC.com

Thank you all for your feedback! I'm especially excited to learn of a local option but I'll investigate them all.

Thanks for the welcome, too! I'm enjoying my MGB restoration adventure very much. I've made really good progress getting the electrics sorted and to a reliable status.. soon she'll be a daily driver! :)

Welcome! I just bought mine from Brit-Tek. Installing this weekend so can't fully comment yet, but one clear benefit is they send them with the front bushing already pressed in.

Chris can get you the new "Heritage" springs that seem to be a perfect fit and trouble free. Order the poly bushing set for sure, to help eliminate the rear-end sway you get from the mushy rubber shackle bushings.
