hey guys. i need an opinion. what do you think this car is worth? here's what's been done to it. and i'll post some pics. thanks in advance.
California original showing 36,000 mi. probably 136k. Has no rust. Just passed CA smog a few months ago. Runs and sounds good but needs a starter and has a rear axle seal leak. Probably needs new interior.
The following parts are new: check valve, clutch slave cylinder, anti-run on valve, front head light, wiper blades, spark plugs, restored valve cover, restored wheels with new tires, shift knob, radio blanking plate, new Carburetor, air filter, new EGR valve, new throttle cable, new brake light switch, new paint job, new side mirrors, window door seals, 2 new keys.

By the looks of the car it could be 36,000 original miles, The midget looks rust free and straight, still with today economy you might not get what you want for it. I would start at $3900. Pay attention to details Back to black on the bumpers, add sunvisors, etc... Cheer up the car focus on the car good points

You buying or selling? By the sounds of it the car is in pretty good shape. But they don't retail for as much as you might think. For a 30 year old car they are not what I would call rare. Add the Monza exhaust as a plus too. If I were buying I would offer $3000 or $3500. If I were selling I would try for $4000 or a little more, that way you could haggle a little. This is pretty much a buyers market.

Nice car!

This is a smogged California car. If it stays in CA, you can't touch the carb, cat, etc... I say 2500. There's too many nice pre smog cars out there that struggling to sell for $4000 or even less.

It does look well kept. Might be worth a look. :)

I bought my 79 Midget from the original owner in Laguna Beach, CA, close to the same condition, 46,000 original miles, but needed paint for $2200. I think losmorob's $2500 suggestion is pretty close. It's not like these things are super rare and lined with gold, although I did find .78c when I replaced the carpet.

My question would be on the statement concerning the car passing the California smog test. Where is the pump (& other related piping and plumbing) that I believe was OEM for the 1500 motor? Will CA pass a car modified like that?

All the smog looks to be in place. The pump sets under the alternator.

thanks for the feedback guys! i might have to sell it, but of course, i REally don't want to. i have it on the sacramento craigslist for $2500. ramon, the smog stuff is stock, x2 what mark said, the smog pump is under the alternator.
