The ad would be may way of telling my wife the car is for sale, the price would be my way to tell others that I'm not selling it. Very nice car!

Hey, there are 2 ways to look at it- The higher they sell for, the more ours are already worth. -OR- The higher they sell for, the more it costs us to buy another one. Dang!

Just for reference, the NADA classic car guide lists the 1968 MGB with O/D as a low price of $7,825, mid of $13,650 and a high price of $29,500.

On the sellers website they give a description:
-- SALE PENDING --

The Classic Car Gallery is proud to offer the finest MGB we have ever seen. Period. This 1968 car was just the recipient of a $60,000, photo documented restoration and is in better than new condition. The original engine was rebuilt, as well as the transmission, rear end, and overdrive. The new British Racing Green paint is flawless, as is the new interior. The top is brand new and has only been down once, to take photos!!! The chrome wire wheels are new, as is all of the chrome and brightwork. The list goes on and on. Restored to the highest show winning standards, this MGB must be seen to be believed. Truly an investment grade show car, this MGB needs nothing except an enthusiastic collector/owner.

From the dealiers website

If the restoration is as complete and as right as it looks, it has to be a good buy. I am certain you can spend less than 60K and get the same restoration, but why isnt the B the next Brit Roadster to be worth 30 then 40, then 50. The person who buys it owns a beautifully over restored B, I hope they drive it...alot.

If the seller did spend 60k on the restoration, he did everyone a favor. By showing what one in that condition can be sold for.

All it takes is one buyer. They say you should buy the best car you can afford. For the guy that has the money, and wants the best car he can find, and wants it to be done and conveniently his right now....the price is not so important.

That's one thing that has always bugged me.... our cars don't have a book value. Too much history for each of our cars. Too many variables. Value of our cars is in the eyes of the one buyer that wants the car.

Never mind what he is asking for the car and what he could be smoking. If he gets the price he is asking, you would be taking a second look at your car also, and probably would like to have some of what he might be smoking.......

Right. If nothing else, such selling prices would suggest to me that I call JC Taylor to change the insured value of my own B.

Invest $60k get $29 in return. Hmmm, sounds a lot like my 401k..

Buy the car with the money from your 401K. No telling, it might be worth §60.000 in a few years.......
