Okay, I'll appologise in advance that it's not a MGB, but it is an lbc.
Back in December my next door neighbour offered to give me his '70 Spitfire, which has been sitting in the mezzanine of his machine shop for about 3 years. Well yesterday he stopped by the house to tell me that it is now down on the shop floor and that he and I are going to bring it to my place on Sunday.
The amazing thing is that one of the guys at the shop actually got it going using the gas that's been in it for 3 years and also took it for a drive around the parking lot. He says that it's running really smooth. So after hockey Sunday morning there will be a third addition to the garage. Oh boys...This means that Saturday I have to get the '80 Spitfire's engine back together.
The car is complete but of course it does need bodywork. The floors and inner sills are gone, but the outers seemed okay. The rest of the car's body seemed to be in good condition, but then there wasn't that much room up in the mezzanine to bend over and give it a good once over. But this is going to be a long term project. It most certainly won't be on the road this summer.

Here's the envisioned garage layout. Man, I hope I have everything drawn to scale...
Don't diss Mark.. Ken.. He will be here helping US with my GT on the weekend of the 20th. :) Your plan looks good Mark but you forgot one standard, necessary element that is in your current garage set-up.
And.. I checked out the car with Mark a few months ago.. It is like winning the lottery. Gunna be a beaut, even for a 'Rumph....
Garage looks great, but do you have enough room to actually do any work? Much less have 4-5 buds over for a brew...
TR
Beauty, EH!! Drop in a motor from a GT6.
Back to the dark side!! Life is full of projects. I can't keep ahead of mine.
Looks like lots of HAMMERING, SCREWING and WRENCHING of your NUTS.
Stop by for a local tour and some Brews this summer!!
Enjoy.
Hey Tim! Shall do if I'm back home this summer.
Nah, I haven't forgotten anything Paul, the beer fridge is located on a shelf over top of the compressor.
I know Thomas, that is the problem; working on the cars. Fortunately the 80 Spitfire is fully restored (Judy and I will finish the engine rebuild on Saturday) and the MGBGT is essentially restored as well. And hey, I can always push on out into the driveway the next time a group comes by.
Oh to have a bigger garage...
LOL - you really are a glutton for punishment Mark!
Good on yer for acting as the Spitfire Rescue Service! We salute you! What did you do with the TR(s)?
Take care - and have fun!
Thanks Eric...Spitfire Rescue Service in deed. I feel like a glutton for punishment at times. I guess it's good that I still have my MG to help keep me sane. Actually I'm going to renew the registration after work today.
The TR has gone to a new home. Thomas lost interest and so it got sold to a nice gentleman in London.
I have a 20' x 20' garage that has a mgb, mgb gt and a Hillman wagon in it. I park the running 'b on one side right up against the wall, just enough room to open the door and squeeze out. The gt goes in the middle tight up against the 'b with just enough room to do the sideways shuffle between them. This leaves enough room to work on the Hillman, probably about three feet on each side. In other words, total pain in the butt. I finally moved the 'b outside last month under a cover because I just had to have more room to finish the body work on the Hillman.
Good for you. That is amazing it is running "good' on crap gas. Clean it up, do the brakes, get new tires, and enjoy it. Restore it later, looks pretty good from here!
I wish I could fit three in that way Ryan but there is an f&*#ing post smack dab in the middle of the garage.
Who knows William. Maybe I'll just do a bit of welding on the floors and do as you suggest and run it for the summer.
