Anyone have the LUCAS # for brushes on an original generator?
Or point me in the right direction for a catalog I can use?

Don't have the Lucas number but..

Barney made this statement on the A side

"The very early MGA generator 22258 uses different brushes. All 227xx generators use same brushes as the MGB through 1967. Generator brushes are $4 at NAPA."

Also I found at NAPA

Generator Brush
Part Number: ECH E403
Product Line: Echlin Ignition Parts

I have those Lucas catalogs at home. PM me so I will remember to pull them out and look the part number up.

Robert, one of my references says that a brush set for the Magnette, same for MGA, is the Lucas #227305

If you have a 22700, as Lucas says you should, the brushes would be 227541. Same as every Spridget, Spitfire, etc.

If you have a differently numbered generator, I'm just a PM away.

The Lucas book for 1958 does show the brushes as a set, the part number above is correct, 227305. It was good for a ton of cars.

Hi Robert,

What I do is to take an old brush to the local auto electrician and ask for a couple the same.
