For sale nearby on Craigslist. Does anyone have any knowledge of these cars?

I think, a 1600cc pushrod four - rather popular rally car back in the day.

Dagenham Dustbin.

Benny's the guy you're waiting for to answer your questions.

I know I'd love to have one but the information on that one is rather sketchy. If I was as close to it as you are I'd certainly have a look.

Rust. Pay attention to the front strut towers. They were prone to rusting. Along with everything else.

I had one back in the 70's, really nice car handled very well and was quite peppy in the day. I would like to get another someday, hard to find.
there is one on ebay right now, it's a deluxe not a gt though. looks nice.

Engines and transmissions readily available. Not many body parts. There is a Ford Cortina Registry. Think they have a website.

There is a member on the V6/V8 BBS that I think has a Cortina. He goes by "Benny" or Ben Eyes. He might be able to help...

At last count, Wyatt had a late 60s Cortina station wagon, perhaps he'll chime in??

Yes, Benny has a Ford 302 in his Cortina. I saw it several years ago at his place when I picked up a set of '69 seats he gave me for my GT.

I had two of them. A Cortina GT and a Cortina Wagon. The GT was great and it was our second family car at the time. Great handling and very peppy. Then we traded that for Cortina Wagon. Nice car in the summer but in the winter, very hard starting in the cold weather. My wife used to put a trouble light under the hood overnight (in the garage) if she was going out the following day so she would be sure it would start. had one scary experiance with the wagon. e were in the thruway going to Albany one night and it was late. Two kids (small at the time) with us and about 10:30 near Albany we had a flat on the drivers side rear tire.
The spare was stored under the car and I had to change the tire on the NY Thruway at that time of night with the cars and trucks whizzing by. I did manage to get my wife and sons to stand in the ditch on the side of the road and I changed the tire with the rear hatch open so the light from the inside would be visible along with the flares I had out at the time. Scary time till it was changed

Is a 69 a MK1 or MKII? I think there is a UK company called Ex Pressed steel that still supplies sheet metal for them (this is going back 10 years though).

I love the MKII cortina and my first car was a MKIII.
