Does anyone know of a source to get a more secure seat belt for a 73 MGB Roadster? I need to replace the original seat belts and hoped to get something more secure... just in case.
Thanks
Terru

JC whitney. Good prices, should work nicely.

Proper MG had a sale on Securons a while back. They can be a little twitchy when you're pulling them out but they clamp instantly. I put them in my 73 and I'm pleased with them.

When Moss had a sale, I got some of the static belts with the old time aircraft buckles from Chris Roop. My wife and I both love them.

I too have the Securons on my 73 B GT. They work fine, but you do have to pull them out slowly or they do clamp up. Not a bad thing really, at least I know they work.

Also from Proper MG, and satisfied.

If you go with the Secruons, look for the set that does not have the knob sticking out the side. I bought a set of these from Proper MG then had troubles mounting them in my BGT. Worked out fine on one side, but on the other side, the knob interferes with the glass. I'm not happy with the set up at all.

Check out Securon's web site. Just put in Securon UK or Securon Seat Belts on www search to find it. They have set up pictures and detailed pictures of each style. You can do a type selection based on car make/year. Have pair for my roadster. They are a little twitchy but never have trouble with them not locking up when they are supposed to which is the important thing to me and they do allow you to lean forward, etc.

I had no idea there were so many types. Will the lap diagonal 514 fit in a 73? Kind of confused on how you could have a 3 point type belt in a convertable.

Ragtops had three-point systems, too. Started about 72. My 71BGT had just lapbelts, my 72B had the three-point. To make things even more confusing, my 71BGT parts cat had three-point belts as well. Mountings on top of the inner fender are on all three cars

Terry,

Do you have 2 point or 3 point belts. If 3pt is the shoulder mount on the rear scuttle and static or the recoil type that mounts down in the top well?

I've got the 3pt with the static mt on the rear skuttle. I've finally decided to buy the J C Whitney's and modify them to use the skuttle mount.

Right now I have nothing. I think I like the idea of a three point in case of accidents, but.... not really sure.
