Went and looked at a 78 B parts car today. Can any of you take a look at the pics and help me determine a value? There is surface rust on the car. The sills, rockers, doglegs and trunk are solid. The drivers floor board has a hole about the size of a baseball in it. The tires are shot along with the top. The interior is very dirty but the dash is not cracked. Running condition of the engine is unknown. There is no OD. This pretty much what I know about the car.

Rubber bumper car with no shots of rust or the interior or description of the running gear, or whether it has an OD transmission in it.

If it is just your standard issue w/o an OD and there is "minimal rust" in the rockers and the interior is pretty far gone, I would offer two hundred and go as high as two fifty.

I recently wanted to buy a car like this and found that the fair market value in this area (SE Pa/De/Md) is probably about $700. Most of the cars I saw have rust which take lotsa work and $500-$1000 of patch panels to fix. (incidentally, LOOK at the PRICE of a NEW FENDER!!!!).

$250 or so seems quite low.

I've put together a few B's from such starters and you wind up spending 2 or 3 grand to get the interior, paint, top and mechanicals decent. The original cost of the starting place doesn't make a lot of difference in the long run. It's the cost of getting to the finish line.

Anything around $500 is a real deal for such a car.
