The rubber fuel line that goes from the fuel pump to the steel line on the chassis failed on my '79B (you know - that sinking feeling that you feel when you park the car and smell gas...). The split occured right at the steel line, so I was able to slice it off clean and reattach it to get me home (only to find out that the pump-end was now split and leaking).
So, I replaced the line today. I used 5/16" line (7.9mm), but it seemed just a tad too large (1/4" line would've been much too small). The 5/16" line slipped on easy enough, but I was expecting a snugger fit. Of course, there are no leaks with the clamps properly snugged up.
Are these lines an unusual size, or is 5/16" just right. ?
Thanks for your thoughts...

I have a short length of 5/16th line from the engine-bay end of the steel line to my fuel filter and it seemed to fit well... needed a hose clamp of course, and it wasnt a PITA to fit on the steel as it was the filter barbs... but no leaking there...
5/16ths seemed to be a bit oversized for my carbon-canister to steel vapor pipe tho...
