I've got an '80 B and there's an air conditioner system taking up a lot of space under the hood and probably adding 10 lbs to the total weight of the car.
It's got to go.
Can anybody with a later model B that doesn't have the A/C compressor fitted shoot me a pic of the mounting of the alternator? It looks logical where I would refit it, but I want to be sure.
Thanks, y'all.

Does yours have the radiator fan shroud? Do you want to sell it?

Are you SURE you want to take it out, even living in Texas:)? There is a place on the left side of the engine that the alternator mounts to. I think yours would have it, but not sure with the air con.

Yes, there was a three piece radiator fan shroud. I removed it, but I want to see how it affects the temp before I get rid of it.

Yeah, on days where I need A/C, I'll drive my Jeep. Seeing how little air the fans move, I really don't see any way that the A/C could keep up with the temps here in North Texas.
I used to drive a '72 BMW 2002 without A/C year round. 2-70 A/C works for me most of the time.

I didn't think about old systems not working as well as newer ones. I see what you mean. My old Jaguar's air con. did not work at all, but I survived!

I might be interested in the compressor mounting brackets and hardware...
