Years ago I bought this '75 RB GT.
I also bought this CB shell. I knew it was for sale and knew I could build all the goodies (and the GT had been in good condition before the young woman went off a bank in it) in to the shell.
I had the rego documents on hold so that wouldn't be much of a problem.
I stored all the GT gear (had the diff/front crossmember etc sandblasted/etched).
The guy with the shell had it at his panel shop about 230kms from me but was going to deliver it in about two weeks. I had paid for it.
Anyway, I got on with life. He never delivered it. It sat outside rusting.
I had enough to do as the years went by.
I've now sold all the GT bits (overdrive included) and delivered them to the guy who's buying the parts son today to forward on. There are no shells I know of (sure they turn up occasionally here) that I know of to build up a car with all the parts and sure I could sell the wanted parts but I would've been left with stuff no one would buy (for much) and I wouldn't use.
The shell; I'm going to go to Small claims court and try to get my $ back.
Numerous people get pissed off with him - either his workmanship or slightly ripping them off/delaying jobs/sending the wrong parts etc.
Unfortunately its a little bit tricky for us NZ MG fans here as the shell guy has many MG parts and sells them at reasonable(!) prices so it doesn't pay to get offside with him.
No doubt after taking him to court I'll have to buy through him through someone else!
Paul ;-)

I am confused. Are you doing it or not?
I assume your plan was to transfer all the running gear into the Roadster Shell from the GT?

In the forth photo from the top is also a bit of my '77 GT. The blue bit on the C pillar is undercoat - after I chromed it I took off the GT badge and filled it like a CB would be. The blue car body is my Triumph Herald converible shell.

No I'm not hence writing that I'd sold all the GT bits and taking the shell guy to court.

Let me get this straight ... you "got on with your life" as the "years" went by? and now you want to sue him for not delivering the shell YEARS ago? It sounds to me like you are both guilty ...

Sure I could've followed him up on it (I did a bit) but he never kept it covered, he's had my money all this time, he left it to rust, he comes up to Auckland to collect cars to take back to repair so was happy to bring the shell up and....I should've said this - he's taken the doors, bootlid and bonnet off it and used them. He's offered me other panels but as we all know - they won't fit like the originals. I'll be using my photos of the shell with the original panels at the court hearing.
