To all members of this forum who took the time to respond to my recent ignition difficulties, but especially Jeff, who went above and beyond the call of duty by patiently answering my questions via email and weekend telephone calls. (I suspect that if I sent Jeff a photo of myself next to the car, it would find its way on to Jeff's "wall of shame").

In any case, "Lady Jane" is running again! The real lesson I learned (despite my new-found pit crew speed in removing and re-installing the distributor) is to take the time to understand the details before diving in with both feet. In the 2 1/2 months since we've had her, I've replaced the fuel pump, the carbs (Jimmy Hilton masterpiece) all the fuel lines, brake lines, plugs, wires, coil and distributor.

Next weekend......the fuel tank! What could possibly go wrong with that? At least I won't have to deal with the arcane (to me anyway) science of timing, dwell, BTDC and gaps. Just good old rusty nuts & bolts.

Going for a nice drive later today. Top down, 75 degrees, blue sky. It doesn't get any better than this.

Again, thank you all!
Bill

Have a great drive! You just learned one of the most important things about your car - how the ignition system works! Now you can get yourself out of virtually any sticky situation! Now congratulate yourselves with a long, fun drive!
