My restoration is going slowly, but it is going. Here's a few photos. One is of my engine - it is mostly just "dry-fitted" right now, but I'm slowly going back and installing gaskets and torquing stuff down. The sparkplugs are just there to blank off the holes. I have new ones when I get to that point.
The other two pictures are of the front end. Before you ask, I know wire ties are not a safe replacement for cotter pins - they are just there to remind me to install the cotter pins once the front end is back on car and has some weight on it so that I can tighten everything up. That is also a temporary set-up on the steering rack.
Thanks to everyone on this board - you keep me going, you keep me supplied with parts, and you teach me something new every time I'm on here.

Bob,that sure does look nice and brand new. those pulley's are mighty pretty too. keep up the good work.
Obviously a labor of love. Looks great! Keep the progress pics coming!
OK, before you find out the hard way. If you want to install the assembled front crossmember. you need to have the front bolt-to-frame installed inside the crossmember. If you look at the front of the CM, you will see a 1/4" hole eithr side just under where the bolt goes. Put the bolt up in place and push a dowel thru the hole to keep it in place. Yeah, You will have to drop the springs again!
Like the engine color, did a similar color using a paint that looks like clean cast iron. Never did like the MG red, figured it was WW2 surplus and cheap.
Pete
Very nice Bob,
Once my body work is complete, that will be my next project. Want to do it for me?

If you fly me out, sure I will!

Thanks for tip. I have to drop the springs again anyway to put in the bumpstops.
We probably used the same color. My engine is painted Duplicolor "cast iron" engine enamel, but I think it looks like bronze.
Bob,
Looking good. I would like to stop by one of these days and take a close look at what you have done.

Thanks Lou - there's a lot of that going around...
good to hear from you
Very tempting, would it sweeten the deal if I told you the box frig is filled with premium beer?
By the way, I love the boot in the background of the first picture, that yours?
Looks Good Bob! You should re torque that steering rack down though;)

Yeah - I'm there!
as to the boot, it's my wife's. You can probably tell I keep my garage as clean as an operating room - Not!

I would, but that's as tight as I can get those wire ties!
Man that looks good Bob, where did you come across those pully's?

Thanks - bought them from Geoff Minors here on the forum. I'd love to be able to buy a matching pulley for the alternator but I don't know if he's doing them anymore.
