Ok, so I'm open to honest opinions and ridicule on this one because I just don't care. To make matters worse, this is a terrible picture, but last night I finally MADE the free time to spray the interior and engine bay of my B. It was a late night, and while I'm not ecstatic about the overall quality, its certainly not in prinmer anymore. Whadya think? It almost turns silver in direct sunlight!

Could be the lighting, but looks metallic lime green. Not my favorite color but your driving it not me. :)
Brian
Yep - really BAD lighting in the pic. Austin Healey engine green. Sort of a vintage green - not metallic, but lots of aluminum in the paint.
That's strange because I really do like the Austin Healy engine green. I seem to remember you talkin about a year ago that you wanted to use that color for your car. Try another pic...
I like it! Traditionally, the MG factory experimental cars, plus the EX-179 land speed record car, were done in light metallic green, so your car is in good company.
It's going to look great with the superlites and shaved bumpers!

I like that Healey green as well. It looks like it has little more gold to it.
Ken
I think it will look great! My favorite color for B's is silver!
I also like the Healy silver blue....
Go with it...
Jeff, If thats the same green you sprayed my timing cover,I like it, and your picture did not do it justice.
Jeff,
That pic reminds me of the color my wife wanted to use on the TF, sort of a metallic olive green. Sorry, but I couldn't do it.
Great potential emerges from that hue.
Interior color?

Here is a photo - looks very close in color.

Jack where is the locale of that shot?
To anyway, it would look particularly HOT if the top was pure white.

There's a guy on here from time to time , Ray Wyberski, who has a gorgeous gold B. Lots of mods and details galore. That is about the nicest of the nice when it comes to tricked-out B's...

Landon,
That car is on display at the British Motor Heritage Museum in Gaydon, Warwickshire. They have a great display of the 3 MG land speed record cars, EX-135, ERX-179 and EX-181. I took it last December.
Jack
I like it. Different. Once the bits start going on, it'll look even better.
Jack, that's the color!!! I purposely took a crappy picture so that when the car is actually painted and out in the light it takes on a different look. Keep a little mystery in it, you know?
Yes Keith, your timing cover is basically what I used to color match the paint. I'll never do another 2-stage paint though. The clear is too glossy for my taste. I may add a little flattening agent added to the final clear for the outer body.
Since this is an autocross/fun car, the interior panels are aluminum, the tranny tunnel and sills will stay green (painted) while I may put down something on the main floors. The seats are already upholstered in black leather (Mr Mikes) but now that the car's green, I would have chosen a different color. Too late now! The seats do have silver piping though, and I may work that in with a simple stripe somewhere...
Jeff,
I like it! (Then again I'm partical to AH green!) But I would defnitely like to see a photo in the sun.
Just wait 'til you see what color I have instore for my bugeye! lolol
Finnish it off with a nice Ochre leather interior and you have a gem there Jeff. It is amazing (remember Janel) how many different coloUr combinations go through your head when you have a bare shell. I change my mind weekly regarding the coloUr of the GT.
And yes... More pictures, in the natural light, will be good.
Paul
More pics WILL follow, but probably not until the entire shell is painted. We'll see. I may need to roll the B out of the shop soon to do some other maintenance, so that may be a good opportunity!
In the mean time, the doors are back on, the front suspension back in place, and the steering column back in so I can finally roll it around again!
Jeff,
Thats close to what Im thinking of painting my GT. The engine is already
AH green. I have been checking out new cars for ideas. My 05 Tundra is a nice shade of dark metallic, so I want to go lighter on the MG. Maybe then the engine bay in BRG won't look so bad!:) I think yours is going to look great! Please post the paint code.
Looks like the color I've seen on aerospace parts. Maybe Boeing will pay you top dollar.
I think either black or light tan would be nice for the interior.
Jeff, plz take some more pics as you move forward, I'd like to see how it comes out. I like greens mostly.
I found pics of that car AFTER I chose my color. that's very, very close though! It takes on the same silver hue from all the aluminum in the paint, and I'll be running a steel aftermarket C bonnet, sans the carb bubble. I see that C bonnet doesn't fit well either...
Unfortunately, the interior is stuck in black and silver at this point. No going back to any version of tan unless someone wants to swap a perfect set of Fiero seats?
Pretty striking look. Should look great when it's done.

I think it is going to look great, and has enough roots in history you can tell folks to stick it!
Black interior is the way to go!
Some shots of the interior aluminium panels would be great.
That is a nice colour for a B, especially one that is a 'racer'.
Jeff,
It looks good to me.
What type of paint are you using?
Jeff, I really like that color....and chrome accents it perfectly...
however, if you put any gold trim on the car, I will not be happy!
NO GOLD TRIM! In fact, very little chrome, but a fair amount of brushed aluminum. It'll be a while before it really starts getting reassembled though.
The paint is Deltron 2000 PPG. So far I'v ebeen using the quick-dry 3000 clear with good results. I haven't decided what to use for the exterior clear yet. That's a tough one to decide. Too many options!
I love that car Derek.
Jeff, I think it looks good. Not a purist here so I believe in doing what one likes when it comes to their car. :D

That is nice, I like the idea with the brushed aluminum. The 2 should be a real nice combination
Just toss a couple of those rubber mats with the MG logo on the floors...
I really think it would like great Jeff, In fact I have had the green GT saved as my laptop backgound picture.
I like it, actually. The whole point here is a fun car, and this sounds like it'll be that - and a good ride at the same time. No sense in being boring - and boring, this ain't. ;)
I've got the rubber MG logo mats already - that's all I had in the car last year. I may want a bit more coverage just to prevent wear though. I have a relatively new black carpet set that I could use the floor sections from.
My whole goal was a safe, ultralight autocross setup that was more than roadworthy and offered some severe fun! It was a COMPLETE rust bucket, so I don't feel I should even offend a purist with this car. It should have seriously been parted out and crushed. About 3000 hours later I'm finally getting it painted! :)
Keep us posted Jeff. With more body panels installed and in the sunlight it will be a stunner!
