I've seen two white BGT's with red leather/red carpet interiors. I don't ever recall seeing a red metal dash before - GT or otherwise. Am I not paying close enough attention? Or maybe someone sprayed this?

Certainly they sprayed it.

Question is... do you like it?

From the Factory, they were all black crinkle painted.

Kinda MGA like. Not what I would do but it is interesting.

Looks BAD. Black the only 'colour' they should be.

Paul ;-)

Looks good! Is that a Les Leston wheel to boot??

It would look great with some tan leather piping around the interior bits.

Paul - why only black?

Ok, tan looks much better than red at least.

Why only black?
I guess I'm basically a traditionalist with Bs also to me black looks racey the utilitarian and Bs were/are racey and utilitarian.
Its probably the main reason I don't get the hots over wood in Bs either - I don't think they are luxury cars that would have wood in them (although a well done wood dash and door cappings looks way better than a coloured dash).

An important think is that here in NZ there are not that many Bs around so they're rarer and to go chopping/changing them is not done much (thankfully) they way you guys wouldn't chop up 60s Shelby Mustangs for example.

Thanks for asking, Paul ;-)

I don't care for the wood add-ons myself, when David Maples and I did the engine, for the Saturn alternator guy, many of you know him, onefastmg, it had all these luxury add-ons, we nickneamed it the MGB SL, it looked more like a MB 450SL than it did a MGB. Bottom line different folks want different things with these cars, I'm returning to my youth with my MGB, a raw bones sports car, that's what I remember when I was young, those cars didn't have GPS, DVDs, CD players, A/C and such, you got in the car and headed into the unkonown, you headed down this or that country road, not knowing where it would take you and not caring. I was out doing this very thing last weekend, was looking at my Atlas to see if I could find a road I had not been down berfore in a very familar, to me, section of Western NC, when nice gentleman walked up and ask me if I was lost, I told him no, but I was trying to get lost :)

Julian, if you like the red dash, or a painted other than black krinkle early steel dash, then go for it, it's your car. Just get-r-done, and get out there and get lost, it's a helva lot funner than sitting in a show field, looking at dash colors :)

Amen brother! I carry a bunch of maps in the GT and look for roads I've never travelled before; a great way to spend an afternoon.

I tried once last year to win an award with my other British car, which I'd just finished restoring ; didn't get a thing; saw the errors of my ways and now enjoy it for what it is; a fun car to go cruising unexplored roads in.

And with the advent of the GPS, you don't even need maps. Go and get lost and when you decide it's finally time to go home, switch it on and have it guide you there.

What an inspiring comment. Maybe Tim Nagy could develope something like this for the 'B! :)

And then, the battery went dead.
