OT, but Happy Easter to all. Here's a link to a great video on Jay Leno's website.
The man is living the dream.

Oh no! you shouldn't have reminded me of Jay's site. I can get lost there for hours!

ditto John, I've never been to that site, but it's in my favorites now. Thanks Robert! I have a new appreciation for Jay Leno now.

After I posted this thread this morning, I realized I had spent almost 2 hours watching videos on his site. (well, I was also doing paperwork).

I really got a kick out of the old stationary engines he has restored. The stationary one that they had to pour a slab to support as well as cut a hole in the floor for the flywheel to clear, install a steam generator in the yard to power it.

Nothing like the sound of one of those old stationary engines, especially the one lungers. Just seeing one of early vintage gives you an appreciation for just how far engines have come. There was a ol' boy not far from where I lived in Idaho who was still using his (about 1900 vintage) to pump water for irrigation, and it was a hoot to hear it still popping away. The spark plug and wire to it looked like they could have been original, tho probably not.

They have a steam engine show every year very close to me. They also have old gas powered engines, tractors ect. Interesting stuff for sure.

That truck brought back some good memories. I worked as a milkman for Bayville Farms in Virginia Beach, VA in the late 60's. The Divco truck was a real workhorse.

Jim,

Are you talking about the show in Portersville, PA? I know they have a large one every year and it's only about 40 minutes from my house.

Dan, It's near Brownsville and California PA. SW part of the state. Every year same place. The steam association owns a big plot of ground there as a lot of the things are permanent displays . They also have antique car displays in conjunction. Great time except for the dust. One year I took the B & put the top up in a hurry. When I left, the whole car was brown! Washes off though:)

We have a harvest festival in Durham, CA and the local Antique Tractor and Steam Engine club shows off their stuff.

I'm just impressed by what Leno did with such large, old equipment. Out of my league.

Jim,

I didn't realize that those shows were that popular, the place I was thinking of also has a yearly show at the same site, as they have steam engines built into the ground and buildings. The 2 sites are probably within an hour and a half of each other from where you said it's located at. The things one can find out about their own backyard over the internet.

Love the 4-cylinder Henderson; (my father had one) and the Vincent Black Lightning.(Vincent Australian connection: Vincent's engineer/designer, Phil Irving was Australian. He went on to design the Repco-Brabham formula one engine, winning the Formula one world championship in 1966 and 1967)
Did you notice the adds for the Pontiac G8? Would you believe its built in Australia? Sold locally as the "Holden"
