As you all probably know, I've got a T5 in my car. My car had a MK2+ 4 synchro trans in it when I got it, so I cut that shifter and mounted it to my T5 so it appeared to be "stock".
I recently won an auction on eBay for an original MK1 chrome shift lever.
My question is, what is the measurement from the chrome ring level to the top of the threads on a MK1 shifter?
Also, is there a locknut that goes beneath the original black shift knob?
I'm trying to keep the interior bone stock on this car.
Thanks,
Chris

I have a 4 synchro transmission in my '67, but the original 3 synchro transmission and shift lever are currently in storage. However, there is definitely a locknut under the shift knob. RAY
Thanks for the response Ray, I'll keep my eyes peeled for the correct nut.
Anyone out there have a MK1 with 3 synchro trans? :)
-Chris
The correct nut is an oddball size. While its thread pitch and OD are a common size, the actual height of the nut is about half the size of an average hardware store nut. RAY
After closer inspection, I might have lucked out. The nut seems to be on the lever. Pics are from auction listing.
I just wonder how far up the shift boot goes on the lever in the pic below. If I can find rub marks, maybe I can determine shift lever height that way. It doesn't have to be exact.
The shift boot goes to the first bend in the shift lever. RAY

RAY's given you the answer about the boot #26 and #27 above still available
