Any idea as to why the change? It certainly never would have occurred to me that an MGB GT wasn't an MGB! Is this LBC PC?

The stars have changed too. Skye must have some time on his hands!

Went to a British car show a couple of years ago (put on by the MGT Register of New England) where they felt that there weren't enough GTs preregistered to justify a separate GT class. So they put us in with 'Other' rather than with the other Bs. There were some rather defensive organizers on the field that day.

Those T-Type owners just don't seem to get it!

Not to quibble - but then shouldn't it be MGB Roadster and GT forum? I like it, though, we hard top owners are getting our "props."

I remember going to T shows with my folks c. 1978 - I am pretty sure it was all T's and maybe an A - so we've come a long way baby. (Ohh - I just said T & A.....that's an opener (must be Paul's pic)

Still the most informative, best site, and people around . . .

And, what's happened to the pic of the 'bomber' (red MGB ) top right?

MGB Tourer is a little more proper.

Makes no difference to me, though.

:)

You want discrimination? Try entering an MGC into an all British meet and see where you get placed.

Looks like MGC's are "homeless"! And where do Factory GT V8s belong. I feel the need for a Group Hug.

I notice that Paul's signature lady is washing a GT. Could that have inspired Skye to make the inclusion to the forum's name?? ;)

I'd like to think I inspired someone. I will be taking another set of the same girl and maybe a new girl this weekend. I promise to share!

BTW, I'd like to introduce y'all to the new G/F! Her name is Theresa and she loves the BGT. We went out Friday night and took it downtown. Windows down cool night and she was all smiles. I may need to get her her own someday. Paul

Love the eye candy, but back to topic. I feel the GT designation separates the two.
A B is a B is a B! Any designation of MGA and MGA FHC? My .02.

You just had to go and do that now didn't you Derek!? :D Yes, Brandon I also believe that Tourer (or convertible) would be more appropriate. Somewhere I heard that a roadster is a four door convertible.

Now, if you click over to the "MGB V6&V8" board you'll find that the new header there reads "The MGB V8 & MGC Forum".

That's pretty odd! The threads on that board are mostly about V6 and V8 engine swaps, as the link implies. There are only about 18 to 25 Abingdon-built MGB V8's in North America, and they hardly ever get mentioned on that board.

MGCs came with an inline 6... and their owners mostly seem to want to keep them in line. IMHO, it would be cool if MGCs had their own board. (I see MGCs more often than I see Magnettes...)

Click on "Forum List" and read the descriptions, nothing has changed. The titles were updated so that search results are more clear on Google etc. While roadster, etc terms are fine, its not what the factory called them, so that's what I'm going with. I'll tweak as needed.

Skye, why do you have little blue bombs after your name?

Skye is right, the terms roadster, tourer and such don't apply. If you have a MGB it doesn't have a fixed top. If you have a MGB GT it has a fixed top as simple as that. The term tourer was used for much older cars usually 4 door open cars, phaeton is the same. Roadster is the same era but a 2 seater 2 or 1 door, with or with rumble / dicky seat.

Well I'm going to stick with what they were called from the Factory:- Tourer.

Source: Bentleys Manual (Factory Reprint of Drivers Handbook, Official MGB Workshop Manual and Special Tuning Manual) all refer to the Tourer and GT.

Meg Ryan sure is pretty.

And I agree that the term MGB refers to the roadster version, and MGBGT is the fixed head, so 'MGB and MGB GT forum' is spot on.

Over here we refer to 4 seater convertibles as cabriolets or cabbies, and I call the MGB a Roadster.
