It was a most joyous day the other day when not only did I pick up the new exhaust but also these beauties:

Bit of a dilemma though as the 100mm speedo does not use the "threaded" nut to attach the cable to the unit. It uses a "trigger cable fitting"...........a what? you may ask. Indeed, I had no idea what that was as well. It's a "slip-on" connector.

I am now in need of a shop or company near Vancouver, BC that could modify my cable end to attach to my new speedo. Anyone know of such a place? I spoke to the vendor of the gauges and he told me I need a "Ford upper ferrule" that can be attached to the existing cable...............yep, I don't know exactly what that is either but I think I can figure it out.

Suggestions/ideas/thoughts always appreciated. By the way, the cable is from the Rivergate kit for the 280ZX 'box and I emailed Will down there. He wrote back saying he's never heard of this fitting and that the cable they supply for the later gauges uses a threaded nut as well.

Simon, obviously those new guages just won't work and are just causing you undo stress. Just mailed them to me and use your ole ones! :)

Nice gauges. Instrument would be a better term.
Take a cable that fits the gearbox to a Ford dealer and see what the Ford cable looks like at the gearbox end.
It may be easier to make the mod at the gearbox end. You may be lucky and the Ford cable may just work. Hope that you can find a Ford dealer where the parts guy knows what a speedo cable looks like without an application / part number.

Good points, Jim. I'll look into that.

If I'm still having stress next week, Brian, we may have to talk.

Cheers
Simon

Ooooh, those are pretty nice, I would love to have that problem of trying to figure out how to install those. Nice pick up there.

Just by chance, I read your post before taking off on an adventure in the snow, from B'ham to Olympia (dropping daughter 2 at the airport, but more importantly, picking up some more MG parts!)

Anyway, as I searched for a coffee on the way home, I went right by this specialty shop! Bingo - I remembered your post! Looks like they could do it if the other suggestions dont work.

Thanks guys. Once I get them in, I'll post some more pics.

Thanks for the link, John. I may have found a guy near here who does this kind of work (modifying speedo cables) but will keep this handy.
