What size are the original speedometer and tach in my '67 BGT?

4" in diameter. I just happen to have one sitting next to my computer. RAY

Ahh....careful there. 4" = 100mm. Size of the late model gauges. Came out in '77 with the new dash design.

Early cars use 80mm or ~3 1/8".

Got that backward Simmon. The early cars have the 4" (3 7/8" to be more exact). Later cars have the 80mm tach and speedo.
Cheers,

Correct regarding late model cars. 62 - 67 metal dash are 4" also.

Nope. Disagree. I just measured an old, early 70's padded dash I have. 80 mm speedo and tach.

I installed a Mark IV dash in one car and ordered 100mm gauges for that one. I've got an old metal dash speedo and tach as well. 80mm.

Grab a dash and have a look.

In case you don't believe me, "Original MGB", page 150, middle column paragraph under "Start of 1977 model year": "4in speedometer and tachometer on LHD cars, still 80mm on RHD cars".

Poor guy asks a simple question and starts a fight! Kinda like the old Lite Beer commercial where on guy sits down between two others and has them fighting with each other in about 15 seconds. Was that Conrad Dobler??

63-67 = 100mm
68-76 = 80mm
77-80 = 100mm

X2 Lloyd... and for the record, I went out to my '67 and got 4" across the bezel. :)

This used to be a discussion forum so I thought we were discussing gauge sizes. I learned something new today in that the early gauges were 100mm. Thought they were all 80 until the late cars.

If I see something I think is in error, I'll post about it. If I'm mistaken, I stand corrected.
