I want to lower my 4WD ride height on the TD. Can I cut down some MGB springs for the front? Will B or Midget lowering blocks fit the rear? I'm thinking 1 1/2 inches.

The B front springs will work. You can save yourself some work if you can find a set of rubber bumper B springs. They will drop your height about 1 to 1 1/2" without any mods. Any lowering kit for a B should work on the TD. TF springs will also do the trick or you could have yours re-arched. If you think you can find a donor B for the front springs, give some thought to taking the roll bar and all hardware as well. The roll bar makes a big dfference in handling. Take the front spring pan arms as well as they are drilled for the roll bar and have the gusset welded in place. The sring pans and arms are identicle to the TD/TF with the exception of the gusset.
Get greasy wit it.

You can have my stock RB springs.

Aren't RB springs longer? The TD springs look shorter than B springs. Figured I'd have to cut them. Cool.

here's a picture of the TF spring and a chrome bumper spring sided by side. The info on the rubber bumper spring is from a member off the MG Enthusiast web site. I believe these measure about 9.9 " high.

The locating cups are not the same size but are interchangeable. The TD cup will fit in either but the B cup will not fit inside the TD spring.

I'm pretty sure you are aware of the differences between the stock TD arm and the B but here is a photo for reference. Maks no difference unless you want to mount a sway bar.

That reminds me that the sway bar pan is also slightly different as well

Paul, the picture stuff is mine and I can vouch for that info. The rubber bumper B springs were second hand info. I found a net post on all the B springs so make of it what you will. If I remember correctly a stock TD spring is 9.7".

heres the chart, click on the spring specs on the main page
