Battery???

My 77 MGB did not have a battery in it when i bought it recently, so i purchased one today. I noticed that the red battery wire goes to earth and the blue battery wire goes to the wiring system. So when I put the battery in do I hook it up positive to earth or negative to earth? Thanks
