Well, after all these years of never having a radio in my 74.5 MGB, I have decided to replace the blanking plate with an actual radio. Obviously I need to bore a hole in the sheet metal and of course wire the darn thing up. I pulled the under dash covers and located the white/green wire that comes from the ignition switch accesory terminal and goes in to the harness. After standing on my head for some time and trying to see or feel for any loose wires, I can not find where on earth the wire goes. I have looked at the wiring diagrams and it more or less matches the 75 schematic which shows that wire only being for a radio. Has anyone out there found where the connector is under the dash? Although I have owned the car for many years and have no plans of selling it, I suppose I could just splice in to the line but I really would rather not create a DPO mistake that maybe someone some day will have to wonder about.

Interesting tags on some of the harness bits. One actually says Lucas on it and another says Ward & Goldstone Ltd. Salford 6, England. Were they a subcontractor for harnesses from years back?

Well here is an idea..
I too have a 74.5 and a blanking plate. Yet i have music.. loud too. Its in the glovebox!!
Can be locked and entertains the passenger when they cant figure out where the hell the music is coming from since there is no stereo visible.

Less encouragement for theives too.

I did the same as Deniz. I cut the back off the glove box and attached a piece of plexiglass, and mounted the radio in that.
I then made up a backing plate for the blanking plate, added spring loaded hinges and built a recessed box for switches behind it.
Another thing I did was remove the ash tray and mount an ammeter there in a half-round bezel.

Rob,
Google for Secret Audio. I put one in Ole Red. Goes behind the console and has a small, less than 2"x3" controller that you can mount just about anywhere. They make a wiring kit to hook in an I-pod or sat-rad. They sell a magazine CD player that hooks into it also.
So far I'm v-happy with mine.

Rob, you would just pull the arm rest and then the radio console, not the dash. You could put a multiple wire plug on some single connection and then plug into that.
