Idle goes to pot after a long drive. Plugs are a little sutty but not bad. Maybe to rich but unless I keep foot on accel rpm drops bad.
Scratching head acts like it is flooding. Timing is great. pertronix points carbs are set at 900 to 1000 rpm when engine is hot.
This happens after a long run temp gets a little above N on gage.??????

Sounds like a typical case of fatigued heat anticipators in the carbs! Mixture gets messed up when the engine's hot.

I never thought of that when I overhauled the carbs. Ill take carbs off and replace.

Found the problem but not the cause yet. Front carb overflowing filling up tube to filter causing back pressure. Bad float or need and seat.

How often does this happen? Can they be tested in some way, say like putting them in hot water?
