Big Valentine Day road trip

going over to Burlington, KY tomorrow to pick up a used 1963 VW Bug chassis I bought last month. I got the chassis and transaxle for less than parts would cost ot fix mine, it's damn near rusted away. Doris will pile in the Safari Van with a borrowed trailer and take off in the morning about 370 miles one way. If we make an entire round trip just depends on how things work out and how I feel about it along the way. If I get too tired we'll stop for the night but sometimes I get in the groove and can drive all day and half the night with no problem.

This picture of the Van shows it's no stranger to towing a trailer and the chassis picture was taken while the engine was still on it. My 1955 body will bolt right onto it.

Way cool! I didn't know you were working on a 55 VW. How about sharing some pics when you get a chance.

By the way, I love those excursions to pick up some new project or part. Its a great thing that Doris will go with you. My wife is usually still asleep when I roll out in the morning for those trips!
