I was just about to take my '76 B out for a ride, sunny 40 degrees in Omaha, not many days left for driving this year.

While backing the car out, the brake pedal went to the floor, pumped the pedal and it became firm again. I then pushed the brake pedal down and held it down for 30 seconds and it stayed firm, rolled back again and the pedal went soft. Needles to say I pulled the car back into the garage.

I repaced the front brakes and rotors last winter the rear where in good shape and just checked and adjusted. Bleed the system and have not had an issued unitl now.

Checked the brake fluid and did not see a leak at the master cylinder or at the wheels, fluid level looks the same, hoses are good.

The master cylinder is the original. Time to replace?

Thoughts?

Time to buy a power bleeder as well.

I replaced my brake parts one piece at at time. I got to bleed the brakes 3 or 4 times. My dear wife bought me the power bleeder. Something about hell freezing over before she would pump the pedal again.

Get a quart of the brake fluid you used and flush the system well.

X 2 on Mac's suggestion. You can use SEARCH and locate him by name and send PM. Would be great to have a power bleeder, but bench bleeding and gravity work for me.
SAFETY FASTER!
