Dual Line non-servo brake system

Issue one: V-8 Conversion, Ford rear w/ Ford Drums, Imballance in brake system / too much rear brake. (The solution is to install a Proportioning Valve)

Issue two: Although the bore size of the Ford brake cylinders is the same same the volume isn't so the rear brakes require longer pedal travel making for very poor brake modulation / brake actuation. (The solution is to install a 10lb Residual Pressure Valve in the rear brake circuit as close as possible to the Master Cylinder)

In order to accomplish the two solutions above I need to separate the front and rear brake circuits by eliminating the 5 way Brake Switch (Moss p/n 141-710), which is missing the pressure failure switch (p/n 141-725) and I assume any internal parts too so affectively I have a single line system anyway.

The question: Can I use the 3 way conection that is typically found on the rear axle housing (p/n 180-090) in place of the "front" part of the 5 way switch? Will the three lines simply thread out of the 5 way and into the 3 way?

NOTE: The Proprtioning Valve will act as a coupling for the "rear" part of the 5 way switch.

No disrespect intended Rick but this is a ? for the Vengine crowd or motorsports forum. This forum is for those who think the B should be left as it was made...for the most part.

Tim,

I've done just what you asked about on my car. I got rid of the brake distribution valve and created a true, dual-circuit brake system using a rear T-fitting on the new front circuit. Have a look using the search function under "brakes" or something similar for a few photos. If you can't find it, I can post some photos.

I retained the stock MGB rear axle and it's drum brakes and have not had balance issues. I can't help you with the Ford system.

The lines from the 5-way won't thread into the new 3-way T-fitting. Well, actually only the front circuit fittings won't thread in as they're a larger diameter than the rear circuit. Obtain the smaller fittings and add these to the brake lines to fit the 3-way T-fitting.
