MG MGB and MGB GT Tech Talk
I am looking at a 79 MGB that has been used, garaged and owned by the same gentleman for 20 years. It has 60,000 original miles. He has documents. everything is original. I has been repainted the same as original color and it has a new top and clutch. It is in great condition. No rust. Probably an 8 out of 10. And the price is 3500 firm. Is this a good deal?
You say he is as all the documents. It is an 8 to 10 ?? I would look at the oil changes. if the maintenance has been kept up on a regular basis I would jump on that in a minute. he probably has $900-$1500 into it just in the top and the clutch if he paid someone to do the installation.
There's a lot of people looking to get $3500 for something that is just kept in a field the last five years.
Let me know if you don't want to buy it I probably already have it sold.

It sounds good. My only question is why was it repainted? Original paint is pretty hardy stuff and can often be brought back to life by a pro if it's just dulled a bit from age. Was it a good (expensive) repaint job?
Either way, it's probably worth it. But I'd still talk him down to $3100!
How recent is the paint job. Paint can cover a lot of sins that will come back to haunt.
