A couple of pics of Carroll Shelby and Dr. Dick Thompson, both of whom raced in the early years at VIR, standing beside the cars they used to race there. Extremly busy day today and Friday. Naomi, sorry I did not see you or any other "T" shirt MGB EXP folks. A lot of flat tows, and a very, very bad crash and rollover at turn 10 by an Alfa. Totaled the car, driver sent to hospital alert and talking. Sorry, no pics of car show, saw so many beautiful cars. Back there Sunday.

You know, I can't say as I EVER saw an MGB GT racing back in the day (65 thru 75), even in FIA events (I've seen paddy Hopkirk, Altoonen)...err, I think i recall Logan Blackburn or someone in a GT at Sebring in 72 (but was too busy ministering to the U2L class winner!)<G>

Yet I see them in vintage events pretty often, especially back east (thru the pages of Dan's Davis', <i>?Victory Lane</i>)

If anybody is interested, this is a great site on the old history of VIR. Hundreds of old photos.

It is a neat track. I learned to drive on that track at age ten or some such silly age as a youngster. Father set me loose with the family '63 660 Rambler Stationwagon. Three on the tree, sitting on a couple of pillows. Once I mastered that, on to the '65 VW Beetle.

Didn't my first B, a '67, on the track until '76 or so. Track was still in decent shape, and what a 17 year old boy can do all by himself with a car, miracle I didn't kill myself.

I've only been there once since the redo. Did look very nice, but I miss having my own sandbox to play in.

Don't remember who it is, but I've seen that green & white BGT at VIR in the past. Sweet sounding V8 under the bonnet!

I talked to that guy with the white and green gt for a few minutes last summer at Road America. Can't remember his name right now, but he's a good driver and does really well.
