Another item I am getting rid of, but don't know much about. It has an amp guage, center storage and rear speaker.
Is this something you can still purchase through a LBC vendor?

That looks like an Aamco aftermarket center console. Probably worth some dollars to the right person.
The 71 did not come with a console from the factory. If you don't want it, I'm sure someone will!
There have been a few on Ebay lately. As I recall, they captured a good buck.
Within the last year, there was someone selling a group of NOS consoles like that. Seems like they went for $150 or so each. As far as I know they have been out of production since the early 70's. Back then there were two versions offered, a short one with just the armrest and storage compartment and the one you have with the instrument naucels and chrome grill on the back side. I actually perfere my 71BGT without any console
I liked the GT without the console, because, if for any reason, it gave me a place to put my coffee :)
Thanks.
I didn't have an aftermarket console in my old '71, and didn't think I'd care for it when I got the '73. But for a few weeks after putting in the Datsun transmission I never got around to replacing the console and really missed it. Maybe I just lean more to the right these days.
These folks are right, Fred. Check evilBay (and the Trader forum?) and get a feel for the going rate. You'll definitely make a few bucks on that.
Bill - This post reminds me: I still owe you some pictures of my dash and center console. I've completed the job on those, and I'll put some pics up tomorrow evening.

Curious, Rick, do you put your elbow on the console when getting in and out? I do and find that method of getting in and out is hard on them. Thats why I liked the non-consoled cars better-you can't break what's not there

Uh huh.... I learned that one the hard way and had to get one of those over-priced repair kits. Honestly, if I break it again - or the Missus manages to - I'll probably just take it out and leave the tunnel bare. The car looks fine without the console, and I can always keep spare fuses, itty-bitty-book-light and tire pressure gauge in the glove box.

Yep...you have an AMCO aftermarket console there. It appears to be in good condition...and could bring some nice cash on e-bay. Abot a year ago, an NOS AMCO console in its original bx sold for several hundred dollars.

May the force be with you!
Or should I say it's never too late to start doing things right;o
There is a console like that for sale on e-bay right now:

This console appears to be an original factory/dealer option. Also a picture of it appears in the 1970 MGB Roadster Sales Brochure with the following caption: "Ride the Luxury Road with optionals like a Wooden Steering Wheel, Hardwood Gearshift Knob, AM or AM/FM Solid State Radio and Center Console with Electric Clock" I sold one just like it last year that came out of a 1971 MGB Roadster.
