Just wanted to publicly thank Todd for his great work and quick service getting my new engine tag to me in time for a big show in Charlotte NC. Thanks Todd!

I am having a hrd time getting my old engine tag off. I used my dremel to make flat head screwdriveer notches but I still can't get them out....I sprayed with PB Blaster last night and will have to try again later.....any ideas?

Marc, my Dad and I just did this last weekend. I don't think we did anything different than you, my Dad just happened to have a BIG honking screwdriver with a really wide tip on it. We really beared down on it and the rivets popped out. You could also try an impact driver if you have one (they're cheap at HF).

Take your Dremel (or similar) tool an grind off a portion of the rivet from opposite sides. Now grab the rivet with locking pliers and twist counter-clockwise as you pull. The rivet has grooves in it that wrap around the shaft so you'll be sort-of unscrewing it as you pull.

Since the hole isn't treaded I'm not sure an impact wrench will help.

The rivet itself is threaded. I have taken them off by cranking on them with a vice grip and twisting.

Since none of my vice grips can get a grip on the things....let's see what an impact driver will do...I will report back.

Thx,
