Showed up today after a 6 week back order. I was told by Chuck at the Roadster Factory that I should have it by late April. True to his word, its here! Made in Findland, I've included a close up of the manufacture's mark. There are bevels near all four corners that "might" be in response to issues of breakage??? Anyone familiar with the bevels/cutouts?
Paul

Paul...I have one windscreen out of the frame out in the barn, and I've seen several others in the course of installs...none have had these "bevels" ...but looks like a good idea to me...less chance of "bottoming out the screws.
Don't forget the anti-sieze when ou put that puppy back together!
Good for you on finding clear glass. It's been awhile since I did mine, but I too seem to recall it had bevels like that.
I still didnt order one for the 67B but I will be on the phone tomorrow.
Good idea on the anti-sieze, Rick. I hadn't thought of that.
It wasn't my choice to find clear glass. This is for the race car and FIA rules say clear--no tint. Tinted might have passed scruitiny but I didn't want to chance it way down in 'ole May-he-ko.
Paul
The bevels are (IIRC) in all the new glass now, apparently to keep the screws from going in too far and causing that wonderful crackling sound as the little line runs up the screen. I recently salvaged a windscreen from a junkyard '79 that has the same cutouts, so it's been around for a bit.
One thing to keep in mind: When you put things back together, everything has to be centered pretty much spot-on or you'll have a gap on one side or the other. Once it's all buttoned down you should probably still use sealant down there. Mine didn't leak, but I could stick an ice pick under the gap, from outside to inside - once the rubber ages, if there's any shrinkage that could have ended up being a total PITA.

So, you're saying that the "rules clearly stated no tint"!
;)
Thats what I'm told, Rick. No tinted glass on FIA spec cars. I'm not researching the rule book line by line. That's my architect partners' job. I refer to him as the race lawyer! Mine job is to build the car, yanking wrenches and spraying paint and the like. Here's todays work:
Lee and others--be ready for a little sticker shock. Yes, the glass list at $140 but s/h was another $40. However, it did come in a 3/4 inch plywood crate and packed in styrofoam sheets and peanuts. Bottom line--it arrived from Finland intact.

Wow...Looks great...What kind of prep work did you do? And what brand of primer and paint? Perhaps I shold be doing thesame as I go, lol
Each part is media blasted followed by DuPont Verithane primer and I topcoated with rattlecan--Plasticote. Cool stuff. Dries in 5 minutes. Recoat anytime without sanding.

Paul,
I wouldn't leave the glass resting on the ends like that. Best way is vertical, like it sits in the car, or horizontal, braced at 1/3 and 2/3 on the glass longways.
All the new glass I have been selling has come with those bevels for some time.
