No this is not a link to the swim suit catalog
Did you see the IRL - or whatever they call themselves now - have decided to change the rules because she is so much lighter that any of the other drivers. Now they are going to weigh the cars with the drivers in them.

Peter:
Hey, the rules change as conditions change. How do you think Andy Granitelli (sp?) felt the day after Parnelli Jones nearly won the Indy 500 in a turbine powered car that had absolutely no restrictions in terms of its intake opening size? It was untried technology, then, and most people laughed when Andy entered the car in the field.
But, right after the near win, the rules were changed and the intake opening size was mandated and greatly reduced. So much so, that the turbines quickly went the way of the dinosaurs and became little more than footnotes in the dustbin of Indy history.
That had to be one of most heartbreaking losses ever at Indy. Silent Sam was easily the class of the field and appeared invincible....right up until it really went silent just before the end of the race due to what....a $2 bearing or something like that as I recall...
If I am not mistaken, quite a few series use weight with driver. somehow back in my cellar I recall FV being with driver. I think F1 does too, but am likely mistaken here.
makes you wonder ... Big Ol Dan Gurney in an itty bitty (Richard Petty's term) F1 car, 1.5 era, vs even Pheel Heell (who is a smallish man himself) let alone Clark (who had to be 140 with a sheep in each hand) and all that.
racing has always been a small person's advantage. Ever see Mario? His shoulders are almost as large as his height. Even Paul Newman is a shrimp (but Bob sharp is/was<G> tall, just skinny as heck). Bruce McLaren was not a big chap. Nor is Schumacher, etc.
Danica...well, if she drove as well as she posed, her C.V. would improve.
Hey Hap....do they weigh your Midget with you aboard? :D :D

Hey Mac...so what was this guy Clark doing with those sheep??? Sounds kind of fishy to me.

Robby Gordon complained about the weight differential between Danika and some of the other IRL drivers a couple of years ago and has refused to race with her until something be done.
I believe that there should be a starting/ending weight standard.
I do not believe that Danika is that bad of a driver (she certainly has made some pretty stupid mistakes...but she's also been able to overcome those mistakes in the same race for some pretty decent finishes).
Danika (along with Sarah Fisher....<whose grandfather, Jim, drives an MGB V8 conversion>....) has brought some much needed excitement to the series.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the proposed merger of series.

Yes Danika has, I have been to several races with her driving and she always crashes...If she was a guy, you can bet she would be gone by now.

So what's new?? Robby complains whenever he gets passed in NASCAR
In cycling, the weight limit is Rider + Bike, and there is a minimum weight for the bike. It only makes sense that this system is being employed in auto racing now. What's the problem? That the revelation was brought about by a woman?
Nearly everything stupid that happens in a NASCAR race Robby Gordon is in the immediate vicinity.

Well, you never see a big jockey in horse racing, so, I suppose she's got an advantage.
As small as it may be, there could be that close race where they finish half a car length ahead.
Plus, more than the weight issue. Look what happens when they do something like this. Danika, has been a huge spotlight on the sport. A MUCH NEEDED spotlight. Now, this is one more thing to highlight the sport. The REGULAR news will report on it, not just the sports guys.
It's just one more thing! as Forest would say!

Maybe if Danika ate some of Forest's box-o-chocolates...weight would be less of a factor for her!
:)
Not sure what the F1 rule is exactly, but I know the announcers always say after the race that the drivers are going to weigh in.
Actually in horse racing the jockey, his saddle and bridle etc are weighed before and after the race and if they come in under the precise weight for that race/horse small lead weights are added to the saddle so that each rider is the exact same weight- in stakes races that is.
And yes Formula 1 would appear to have a minimum weight limit of car plus driver in full race gear. If the car weighs in under the limit then weights are added to bring it up to the weight.
Just to make this a little more interesting!

Bunch of crybabies, what happened to competition??? and competitive edge
Jockeys have weight added when they race, am I correct??
I don't know if it is to bring everyone up to the same weigh? any hours men/woman out there??
