I'm trying to get my interior back to stock... My car had a dealer installed BMC A/C unit put under the dash (it's probably not going back in), so removing the dash support / speaker bracket was necessary at that time, circa 1967. Apparently dealers back then used pickaxes to remove the bracketry, but that's another story and that has been corrected already...
I found a RB parts car that I can cut the bracket out of and reweld into my car. I know the transmission tunnels grew from 1968+, but was wondering if the bracket stayed the same?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Thanks for the info Bob. I doubt I'll be able to find a MK1 car to part out (and wouldn't want to really cut one).
Maybe I'll just fabricate something to hold the speaker.

The majority of MK1 dash mounting brackets seem to be NLA. I've fabricated where needed to achieve the same end result you're after.

Chris if you identify that which you ask about in the link above then I can measure for you - my dash is out and in parts. If you're referring to the surround that the speaker box attaches to that's a whole other story.
When the original plastic speaker bracket cracked some 30 years ago, I picked up a sheet of 1/8" aluminum and duplicated the original shape. It's still in the car today, under a coat of satin black paint, and looks original. RAY
