I noticed that my dipstick seal is not sealing very well. Just kinda sits there and I don't feel much resistance when I place it.

I don't want to have to buy a whole new one, any alternative ideas? I believer these dipsticks have the seal integrated.

G to Lowes and pick up a tapered rubber plug. works for me and you can put the dip stick in the trunk. Oh, make sure you get it tight or oil all over

It seems to me that I had read somewhere, an article that outlined a method of 'rebuilding' the rubber seal on the dipstick using silicon tile sealant. I thought the author had removed the remains of the existing rubber and when completed had successfully cast an entirely new plug/seal. I apologize for not having any more particulars on the subject but it my provide some more ideas.

I believe John Weimer has a method - he'll probably be along shortly to explain.

I bought a new rubber dipstick boot from Obsolete Automotive in Sarnia Ontario. They get most of their stuff from Moss Motors, try them.....

It was JD Weimer to the rescue for the dipstick crisis. Do a search. He used black silicone seal. A little grease on the inside of the tube, glob silicone on the dip stick where the old rubber seal used to be. Place dipstick in the tube, let sit overnight. When set, remove dip stick and you'll find that you have a new seal in place on the stick. (of course, clean the dipstick really well before applying the silicone. The grease inside the tube is for a release.)
