This is a pic of # 1 & 2 cylinder valves right as it was removed from the block. I have a pic of # 3 & 4 on my "engine bay paint/engine refresh" thread if you want to take a peek.http://www.mgexperience.net/phorum/read.php?1,1293344 .I know pressure test and magniflux will be the best bet at finding cracks, but I was wondering about anything else that may be obvious to the traineed eye. Thanks, Mikek

Looks like any other cylinder head I've removed and found to be OK.

I don't see anything that's obviously wrong. The color is pretty normal. Best of luck. Basil

looking at the spark plugs, the color is pretty normal, and the valves are NOT sunk back in, that's good. It does look like the center two cylinders are running a tad bit richer than the outer two, 1 and 4 look perfect, and 2 and 3 are just a tad on the rich side of perfect.
If you have the cash, I would have someone take a looksy at the head, but, I surely wouldn't suspect anything major at all. Looks pretty good.

Thanks, I removed all the valves and inspected. All the exhaust valves have slight pitting as well as some of the intake valves. Im not sure how you check the guides for excessive wear but I could move the valves a very small amount in the guides. I am taking it to a shop so it can be magnifluxed, cleaned. I will get the hardened seats for the exhaust and replace all valves I guess. I really dont want to replace the intake valves but if the guides are being replaced maybe I should. Thanks for the input, suggestions are always welcome, Mikek
