One of my winter projects is trying to remedy a front end shake i have had since getting my B 2.5 years ago. I had the original tires balanced which didnt fix it and bought new tires which also did not fix. After reading many old topics here i decided to try the Dynabeads. Although they did not "fix" my shake it did reduce it a bit and moved the shake from 55-65 to only 60-65. Everything up to 55 is the smoothest it has ever been so with that i think they do what they can to a point at least. I think if you just have a balance issue they can improve on that. I also went back to find i had 1 piston in 1 caliper sticking so i replaced them both with new and found 1 shock was loose. also most of my front end bushings are shot so those are on the way (urethane) along with an OE style air dam since mine has been missing since i got the car. Hoping after i get all that done it will be better. looking forward to a smoother ride this year. IF anyone is interested in trying the Dynabeads i used a clear tube and funnel and agitated it with a palm sander and they went right in thru the valve stems. 3oz per tire.

This sounds like a failure for Dynabeads:

Sounds like the added weight, 3 ounces per your description, simply changed the dynamics a bit and the vibration simply moved to a different frequency (i.e. wheel rpm).

Once you get the bushings replaced and realign the front end you may find that your shake is gone...

Joe i certainly hope so

Mitch i would tend to concur mostly but it did narrow my vibration range... was 55-65...now 60-65 and the rest is smoother than before. i think my problem is more with the suspension than the tires at this point. the only thing i know for sure is its not engine related as i can get to that speed and clutch it and idle down and the shake remains til i get below 60 again. basically im sure that everything under the car that i myself havent worked on is original and the car now has 105000 miles on it (88000 when i bought it). with all that stuff worn i can neither confirm or deny that the beads do as touted.....but....it is smoother ride overall.

Dynabeads will not cure a miss-alignment problem, they are designed to compensate for a radial imbalance only. The front end assembly needs to be aligned with all components in good, unworn condition. This includes rims that are true both axially and radially. Only then will the product work as advertised.

I have seen some articles that state that the beads only work well on large tires. Tires 195 x 16 and bigger. I put some in my B and found no difference in the slight vibration. Granted the vibs may be coming from somewhere else.

I had vibration in my car this spring in the 55-60 mph range. I had just put new tires on my rosytle wheels. I had changed the bushings and everything. I balanced the drive shaft and had the wheels balanced twice the correct way, and found no happiness. I did eventually buy some alumimnum wheels that I was looking for. Once they were mounted up, all and I repeat ALL, the vibration problems went away.

Look very closely at your wheels. That is all I am saying.

Jon,

I had the same problem with my rostyle wheels. Every single wheel was bent. I replaced them with Panasports and the vibration went away.

Bob's LE wheels should be better than rostyles, though, shouldn't they?

Saw that. Like others have said, take a look at the suspension. Also, make sure the transmission is securely bolted to the engine as that can cause a vibration too.

Could also try swapping the wheels front to back to see if the vibration changes.
