OK, I have never seen an MGB like this one! This may be a good idea! Maybe I will do the same.

The reason you haven't seen another one is because its ugly.
Stock RBs look way better than that abortion.
Of course, only my mere opinion...
I guess your right James, it is ugly now that I look at it more. I am very indecisive. I went from wanting to go with the "bumperless" look, to just keeping my car stock! Alistair, the DPO disconnected my oil cooler, I think it was leaking. It has done fine, but I will get a new one when I start the major work.

Not for my taste either but the rest of the car looks good. I am sure a normal bumper could be put on pretty quickly. It looks like it slopes down and leaves a big gap at the top.
Paul
I like it too. Coincidentally, today I took a pencil and outlined a cut on both bumpers and tried to visualize what it would look like. Now I know, thanks!
I didn't want to hack into the front bumper mounts, but looking at it, I might just get over that hangup.
Your welcome Martin, thats an amayzing coincidence! I always like something different, and this looks like something alot of people would like.

David, that photo looks ALOT like an Alfa Spyder! Oops, I hope that was ok to say, LOL.

I like it better them rubber bumpers. I'm amazed he left the rear though.
Reminded me instantly of the attempted aston martin redesign and buyout of the mgb.

I'l be honest, I actually like that front bumper. Wish the factory had done
something like that.
They didn't dry it off before they took the photos. That's an old salesman's trick to make paint look a lot better than it really is.
Not a fan of it. Also, if he took ALL THAT TIME to do that, he could have spent the time doing a CB conversion. (not that I am a fan of that either).
They took the time to do that.. I would have spent the $ and time pulling the motor and cleaning and painting the engine bay to match the rest of the car before moving the bumper.
A lot of time putting an ugly (IMO) grill on a RB car
I must be missing something..car is up to almost 4 grand!
There was one of those bumpers at the junk yard sitting on either a midget or sprite so i think it is at least an MG part. I don't think it looks any worse than a regular RB.

I like it - I think it looks a lot "cleaner" than the full RB - pity he didn't do the back too.
BUT - Why do people change the color of the car but not bother to do under the hood, doors, etc. That always screams "cheap" to me - and looks terrible. If you want a cheap paint job, at least keep it the same color and fewer people will notice!
I saw a car at the British Invasion in Stowe a number of years ago with the front bumper done the same way.
I believe it was done by installing the bumper upside down and then trimming off all the stuff that used to run upwards to the grill opening. As I recall, it looked pretty good and, IMHO, better and "lighter" than a standard RB.
Probably wouldn't take all that long to do and cheaper than a "proper" chrome conversion with most of the results, again IMHO.
That bumper is the regular B front bumper hacked up flipped upside down, it's probably attached to the bottoms of the chassis rails with some shelf brackets.
Here's the Ebay car bumper (zoomed in and rotated, upper picture) and a "normal" RB. Notice the position of the accent line on the bumber relative to the side light recess.

15,000 miles... hmmmm. My dad always said you could see whether the mileage had been around the clock by looking at the wear on the pedals. The accelerator pedal looks pretty shiny and worn to me...so I guess the mileage is more in the range of 115k.
The bumper looks OK but Id be more concerned about the rear underneath of the car
Matter of personal taste but I'm not crazy about it. I've said it before, if you look at other cars of the rubber bumper era, MG did a much better job of blending the bumper to the body lines. IMHO, the black LEs came off the best since the bumper is the same color as the body. This can be achieved on any RB by painting them. You guys get into this CB vrs RB deal. At least I don't have to debate the TR8, that body had the RBs from the get go. I've got two sets. Bought NOS ones from Rimmer cause the old ones were sun baked. When I got them they have scuff marks from being moved around over the years. I'm thinking painting up the originals body color & see how they look.
Actually, if the "flipped" bumper was painted body colour and a spoiler added, you'd end up with a "low rent" version of this:-

On one of the pictures of the passenger side, it is taken as you look down the door. It looks like there is a fairly major patch of rust under the chrome strip. I didn't find any clear pictures of the lower part of that door, it is always in shadow. There are other pictures that could have rust bubbles hidden with in the water drops. I could be wrong, but it is suspicous.
I read somewhere that the only reason the factory didn't paint the rubber bumpers, was concern about warranty repairs on the paint. Flexible paint was relatively new at the time. I remember the first Corvettes with integrated, painted bumpers ('73??) had a serious problem with paint flaking off.
Today, flexible paint is very good and readily available.

the grill didn't look very straight either Higher on one side than the other
Russ
I also noticed that the aspect ratio of the front tires, is less than the front, making the front end lower!
