A couple fish-eyes and runs, but nothing that wasn't expected. Looks okay.

Darn, I'll bet for an extra nickel you could have bought red paint!

Looks great, what color will you paint the block? With the brightwork and trim, that'll look really nice.

Yeah the paint looks orangey pink in the photo. I assure you its very red. Its BMC "Flame Red" color as applicable to 1970 MGB GT's. PPG code 71861.

The engine will be the OEM maroon color...does anyone have a paint code for that? I will paint the rest of the parts black as OEM.

POR lists an MG maroon engine block paint. I've purchased it myself but am waiting until the weather gets warmer ot apply it. It is maroon, but I really don't have an idea as to how well it actually matches the MG color.

Duplicolor Dark Canyon Red is a very good match for the original engine color.

I did mine with the POR15 and very pleased with outcome....did mine over winter and really should have waited until I had engine back together as it needs heat etc to help it go off

beware also...get a later batch of the paint... some of the older ones had an orangey tinge which looks terrible...took me 2 cans to get it right...good luck

Charles,

Your POR worked out great. Mine looked like salmon afterward. I only painted a small area and then used Bill Hirsch. Paint look great 8 years afterwards.

Is the POR a brush-on or a spray? Charles, that looks fantastic.

Here's my engine nearing completion. It was brushed with POR 15 and went on very nicely. Flowed well and no brush marks even on the oil pan. I highly recommend it.
