Trying to work out the details for changing the rebuilt engine in the 76 over to my 78. I flipped through the Moss book (but started to get sleepy) and I did notice on the specs sheet it groups 75 thru 80. Would this mean the new motor mounts installed on the 76 would work on my 78, or should I just buy new ones? Are there other items that it is good to go ahead and replace when swapping out the engine?
Also has anyone made their own stainless steel fuel lines? We were thinking of bending our own when we remove the gas tank and change out the fuel pump. If you have, how did it go and what size line did you use?
Oh one more question, what are the best brake pads to use or the preferred ones?

76 engine will drop right in an 80, same mounts. the feul line on these cars is 1/4".
best brake pad... well thats open for debate, ask 10 differ people you will get at least 3 different opinions. Better to find out which is best for you, what is your criteria, long life... better stopping power... low dusting... quiet. most pads can't do more than 2 of these, whats more important to you.
Well I would say better stopping power, the pads on my car have been there for the 3 years I have owned her and for 2-3 years prior owner had her. Figured it was time for an update.
I saw Summit had aluminum lines that could be used for fuel or brakes, anyone use aluminum?
removing fuel tank and fuel pump are two different operations connected by
a flex fuel line thats Not a 1/4 inch..
On the aluminum v stainless fuel lines - you will probably find the aluminum easier to work with. SS can be brittle (it depends how "stainless" it is!) which makes it hard to make tight bends without cracking! However, aluminum easily work-hardens, and can be prone to corrosion if not properly protected!
There is not really an "easy" answer to this - they all (copper, steel, stainless and aluminum) have their pros and cons!

I'b be leary of aluminum lines for brakes less than about 2mm thick wall. We were bursting 3003-0 8mm diameter lines w/ 1.0mm wall @ 1750 psi or so, way too close to a brake system's working pressure for my taste. If the aluminum was something like an 1100 series, I wouldn't be sleeping at nights.
