After my car destroyed its piston rings I habve managed to get hold of a recon unit from one of the MG club members. I asked him what other bits I would need, because he is fitting it for me (Iam paying £400 for the engine with new rings bearings, unleaded head etc) and he is fitting it FOC. He suggested that we take out the engine and box, and possibly put in a new clutch whilst its all out. My question is this, I always thought that a clutch was made up of 3 seperate parts, which part do I need to buy>??
Thanks in advance

#1 190-808 - Clutch kit.
#6 330-200 - These wear out. and are cheap to replace.
#9 461-010 or -015 Whichever your car takes.
Basically a clutch kit, and whatever consumables there are in the clutch system.
They're cheap, and you should do them now so you won't have to worry about them later.
Yes not more than about 100 quid. Guess from your name I should say " Go Everton "
Clutch disk
Throwout bearing
Pressure plate
Pilot bushing
Need to check the surface of the flywheel.
May also need engine and transmission mounts, hoses, belts, exhaust seals. Check the u-joints.
Don't be cheap, the money you will save will ending up costing you more if you have to pull the motor prematurely to replace the parts.
The sole reason to replace the clutch now is to avoid paying the labor to R&R (remove and replace) the engine and trans to replace the clutch later.
If you think the clutch will outlast your ownership of the car, dont bother. If it is uncertain age, or has shown any signs of slippage, chatter or bearing noise when the pedal is depressed, by all means replace it now.
The clutch kit contains the clutch disc, presure plate and throw out bearing. You could probably get away with reusing your current pressure plate, but that is penny-wise and could be many pounds-foolish in the long run.
Peter your certainly correct about Everton, and thanks guys , now at least I know what to ask for when buying the kit.
You may also want to replace the bushing and the bolt in the clutch fork while it's out. Mine was quite worn and caused the throw out bearing to disentigrate.
